There are persistent rumours about the supernatural monsters of West Cumbria. The lycanthropes and werewolves of Muncaster Castle in Eskdale are sometimes seen on Fright Nights around Halloween. There’s the King Kong in Keswick who surveys the traffic coming out of Borrowdale. But more rarely-sighted is the monster creature that inhabits the deeper parts of Wast Water, in Wasdale in West Cumbria. Bassenthwaite Lake has also had sightings reported of a cryptozoology monster, the best-documented was in 1961.
