Great day out riding with the French bike club AMA. A cool start (8°C) with a heavy dew where I was staying in L’Isle sur la Sorgue. The air warmed up while we met and had coffees at Cavaillon. Then a joyous ride on a back route through villages and vineyards to the restaurant booked for lunch at Bédoin at the foot of Mont Ventoux
I enjoyed barbecued lobster, farmed in Canada and served fresh. A rare treat. Then on up Mont Ventoux, a free ride as there’s only one route and even in a group of only six there is a variety of riding and motorcycle styles.
Photos all ways at the summit and then on down to Sault, where the group split. Some went back along the Gorges de la Nesque, another took a direct route and I chose the route over the Plateau de Saint-Christol to Apt and through the Lubéron mountain at the Combe de Lourmarin.
Back to Marseille as the shadows lengthened and - with Jupiter rising the clear night sky outside - catching up on the thrilling MotoGP from Phillip Island, Australia.
