Motorbiking

"Biker" for me usually means motorbiking, though I also have a couple of mountain-bikes... see Trail Bike

My current motorbikes are a Honda CBR600RR ABS 2017 and a Kawasaki Ninja Z250SL.

Previously I have owned: Kawasaki ZX4-RR (Ninja anniversary edition), Honda CRF300 Rally, Honda CBR600RR 2005, Honda CBR600FW, Honda VF750F, Yamaha FJ600, Suzuki GSX750EX, Yamaha FJ750, Yamaha XJ900, Kawasaki Z750 and I passed my riding test on my Kawasaki KH250.

Short ride out from Marseille to check my RR and my winter kit. One run through to Cassis to warm up the tyres then another working on corner markers and braking points. Chilly despite the blue sky and sea - the wind feeling more from the fjords than the Mediterranean.

Bikes bikes bikes! I wanted to check out the models that I’ve shortlisted in case I buy a new bike for 2022. It was also good to meet up for lunch with some other GBMCC members. I’m sort of shopping for a sports touring or adventure style bike so I was very interested to swing my leg across the newly unveiled Triumph Tiger 660 Sport as well as some other models. you can probably read my immediate impressions by my face expressions!
Elsewhere, Motorcycle Live is a feast of people-watching in amongst the bright colours and shiny metal.
Vaccination status was checked before entry, and those not fully-vaccinated were admitted only after an on-the-spot Covid test.

Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall

Unexpectedly brilliant ride and then a brill sunset as well, I never thought a ride out from Keswick in November would be this good. I wrapped up well, leathers under touring suit but even so, no cold fingers and no, my little Z250 Ninja doesn’t have handlebar warmers.

GBMCC London pub meet - November 2021

This month’s friendly evening among GBMCC mates at the bike club’s London pub meet. A good number of bikes outside despite the November drizzle, and great to meet again more friends I’ve not seen for quite a while. Lots of chat about ideas and planning for 2022. Good that we’re spreading to occupy more tables every month since the restart. Real candles on the tables is a nice touch by the pub.

That was a really pleasant ride. Not too long, balanced between Riviera coast and hills plus the weather was mild and the traffic moderate. Great to see again palm trees and lush semi-tropical flowers and trees. Fantastic light also.

En route from Marseille to the Alps

I'm riding light for a week on the mountain roads of the Alps. No laptop, although I do have my SLR camera but photos will have to wait till I'm back in Marseille..

I left Marseille for a long ride north via the Col de la Croix Haute (1179 m.) to Saint-Gervais under Mont Blanc. A bit of rain towards the end of the day which cleaned the Provence dust off my white leathers and boots but didn't soak me through.
